Infrared Sauna: Benefits of Using Saunas

Saunas are not only meant to be items for being cozy and warm. They are extremely beneficial for our health. And infrared sauna benefits the health more than the traditional steam saunas because of the deeper penetration that the infrared rays can produce. Steam saunas produce high temperature using high heat. The sweat brings out much the dirt and chemicals that keep accumulating beneath the skin, mostly on and around the sweat glands. Infrared saunas produce sweat at lower temperature, so the comfort factor is was more than suffocating steam saunas. The penetration of the infrared rays being beeper, the cleansing carried out is also better, leading to additional health benefits. On this page, I shall take you through the various benefits enjoyed by a regular user of infrared saunas.

Detoxification

We live in an era of air pollution. The environment today is full of dirt and dust flying around, and chemical substances emitted from cars and other machinaries galore. Skin being the second-largest organ for excretion in human beings after the kidneys, it is important to keep the pores of the skin open and functional. Skin health ensures good detoxification of the body, which a is key aspect to our overall health. Eliminating toxins, accumulated chemicals and substances from the skin is important. Infrared heat helps us achieve this. Infrared saunas help eliminate the adipose (fat) tissue toxins. This detoxification process gets rid of carcinogenic metals and other harmful compounds including lead, nitocine, sulfur, mercury, cholesterol and inorganic acids. Thus, the far infrared heat emerging form infrared saunas improves our health directly via toxin elimination.

Improved Blood Flow

The quality of blood improves as the skin gets rid of a lot of the toxins with help of the infrared rays. The blood becomes purer in absence of the toxins. As a result, the quality of the blood inside the body improves. This improvement leads to an improvement of flow of blood in the body. So as a result, the entire body gets a good supply of high-quality blood and that leads to further improvement of the condition of the overall body. This also leads to an improvement in metabolism.

Cardiovascular health

Improved quality of the blood helps the flow become better. In addition, far inrfared sauna sessions lead to vasodilation of the peripheral blood vessels improving the blood flow. The result is that the hear beat rate and the cardiac output goes up and the heart receives a healthy exercise. The heart will also try to cool the body down by pumping the blood off towards the internal body organs all over the body. The vasodilation and improved heart beating will eventually lead to an improved cardiovascular health, controling blood pressure and improving the health of the heart.

Pain Relief and Relaxation

As the infrared rays emerging from your sauna penetrate more than an inch deep inside your mussle tissues, the benefit of direct infrared therapy is passed on to the muscles. The vasodilation discussed earlier also help in the process. Using an infrared sauna on a regular basis will thus lead to reduction in muscle spasms, pains and stiffness of the joints. Research suggests that using far infrared proves to be of benefit to the body if used after 2 days after sprains, strains and injuries. Swellings and pain is greatly reduced by the infrared rays. People suffering from different joint conditions such as arthritis, rheumatism and fibromylagia receive significant benefits from using infared heat. Regular use of a sauna could help people facing such conditions lead a far better life. Hence, using infrared saunas at home provide great advantages for people having such conditions.

Stress Relief

With improved blood flow, controlled blood pressure, reduced joint pains and loosened muscles (reduced muscle stiffness) – all of this leads to reduction in stress. The body and in turn the mind feels a lot more relaed as you keep using the infrared sauna on an ongoing basis. The improvement of skin health also reduces the body toxin levels to a great extent, leading to a further feeling of comfort. tendons and ligatments, just like the joints, have been seen to benefit from using infrared saunas - especially in conditions of scars and undesirable thickness levels.

Skin Tissue Elasticity and Beautification

As the skin receives deep cleansing with the blood reaching out better, the skin receives the desirable nutrition. At the same time is freed from the substances that are harmful – such as the toxic substances, accumulated dust and dirt, conditioners and other chemicals. The skin thus starts to have a lot more glow, improving its beauty. At the same time, the muscles below the skin improve their elasticity to a great extent. Research has proved that tissues heated at 130 degrees Fahrenheit and beyond, if stretched, will retain the elongation for a significant time even after the removal of the heat. This retention of elongation will not happen if the tissues are stretched at ordinary temperatures. Thus, a significant benefit of using a sauna is improved elasticity of the tissues that improves relaxation and beauty both at the same time.

Weight Loss

Weight loss is perceived to be a benefit of using the infrared sauna by many people. Some others think that a sauna helps you only lose water (fluid) weight by means of sweating. The fact of the matter is that using infrared saunas leads to improvements in metabolisms. That in turns will try to take our body towards the best of its stable conditions, which in turn will help you attain your desirable body weight. One therapeutic sauna session will burn 300-400 calories of heat giving rise to around 500-600 grams of sweat. This is equivalent to running 2-2.5 miles. The adipose (fat) tissues are also detoxified as the infrared rays penetrate deep. Thus the overall weight loss benefit produced by an infrared sauna is not just water weight loss, but the impact of an overall improved health. So an infrared sauna is good to use in the long term.

Notes of caution

  • Pregancy: It it not safe to use infrared saunas while you are pregnant. Discontinue use immediately. It could lead to disaster rather than causing benefits.
  • Joint Injury: It it not recommended to use an infrared sauna within the first 24-48 hours of a joint injury (or any injury per se) unless recommended by a doctor.
  • Medication: There could be certian medication/drugs that conflict with using infrared saunas. Double-check with your doctor if you are under medication before you start using an infrared sauna.
  • Some Other Deseases and Situations: Conditions such as multiple sclerosis and supperssion of the adrenal may not go well the the increase of the body core temperature. Using an infrared sauna may not produce benefits and in fact may be dangerous if you are facing such health conditions.

On this page I have reviewed some of the infrared sauna models that I like and believe to produce great health benefits because of their organic carbon 360 design. Carbon 360 is a great choice of technology and has been tuned to that the emission of the heat matches the natural body infrared absorption capability (look at the graph below as found by a reputable scientific test body for industrial products). So I recommend that you go for a Carbon 360 infrared sauna if you want to get one of yours to get those benefits. The saunas that I have reviewed on the model review page are all Carbon 360 saunas.
